AMCON’s Inline Mixing Improves Dewatering Quality and Reduces Polymer Consumption

Municipal WWTP in Austria

Municipal WWTP in Austria

Background

A municipal wastewater treatment plant in Austria was facing seasonal challenges with their waste-activated sludge, particularly during winter when dewatering performance drops. To stabilize the process, improve its results and reduce polymer usage, the client decided for AMCON’s dynamic inline mixer DM-50.

Installation details

The DM-50 mixer was installed directly in the pipeline before the flocculation tank. The goal was to improve the quality of floc formation, reduce polymer dosage, and increase the dryness of the sludge cake without major modifications to the existing setup. The discharge cake dryness went up from 20–22 % to 21–24 %, whereas the polymer dosage dropped from 18–20 kg/t TS to 16–18 kg/t TS.
