Background
This cheese producer treated their sludge with a decanter centrifuge. The high energy consumption and high rinsing water demand of the technology prompted management to seek a more economical solution for their sludge dewatering. During the pilot tests, particular attention was paid to achieving a high throughput and high dryness of the dewatered substance. The results were comparable to those of the centrifuge.
Installation Details
The dryness of more than 23% and a high capture rate that VOLUTE DUO™ delivers are very satisfactory for this application. In addition, the twin screws press gain a considerable 90% reduction of OPEX, namely in maintenance, water, and energy consumption in comparison with the former decanter centrifuge. All that and a simple control system plus the long lifespan of the consumables undoubtedly contributed to the overall cost optimization of this site’s sludge treatment process.
