The client produces leather used for jackets and handbags. The sludge contains 50% inorganic matter. The filter press on site is old and requires a significant amount of time for manual operation, as each plate must be manually scratched due to the sticky nature of the cake and its tendency not to fall as it should. The client became aware of VOLUTE DUO™ at the Pollutec exhibition and, following the submission of sludge samples to AMCON’s laboratory, a long-term test was initiated.
Installation details
The goal of the long-term test was clear to the customer. To compare not only the dewatering efficiency and polymer consumption, but also the operation and maintenance requirements of the VOLUTE DUO™ with the existing filter press. The customer was delighted with the continuous operation of the VOLUTE DUO™ press without the need for an operator. The long-term maintenance costs of the VOLUTE DUO™ are virtually negligible due to its frictionless design.
The results achieved (see below) were excellent and the test confirmed the assumption that the VOLUTE DUO™ is a more than suitable technology for dewatering this type of sludge.
