Problem:

Owasebussan Co., Ltd., located amid beautiful coastal and mountain scenery at Owase Bay in Higashi Kishu, Japan, processes various types of fish using an advanced production facility and ships out to supermarkets and other customers across Japan. Owasebussan was disposing of all the floated oil and dewatered sludge generated from the factory wastewater as industrial waste. The company was exploring ways of reducing industrial waste and utilizing the animal residues. Also, the company had a problem with fish scales. Fish scales accumulated everywhere in the wastewater treatment equipment. The company had to have the scales carried away by a vacuum truck. It took a lot of labor to clean them up.

The company succeeded in recycling industrial waste into animal residues by mixing scales into floated oil and dewatering them together. As the scales are collected by the dewatering press, they do not flow into the wastewater treatment equipment anymore.
