Optimized sludge dewatering for PET bottle recycling using VOLUTE DUO™

- Plastic recycling plant, Austria
A plant involved in the recycling of waste, particularly plastics such as PET bottles, needed to upgrade its sludge dewatering process. The existing equipment, which included a filter press, required high maintenance and was less efficient in handling sludge with variable density and high fibre content.
Installation details
The VOLUTE DUO™ RVP-241 was used, with components including a polymer preparation station and dynamic mixer. The system demonstrated its ability to effectively dewater sludge, achieving up to 36.5% dry solids in the sludge cake at throughput rates of up to 61.8 kg DS/hr. Capture rate exceeded 99% and polymer dosing was optimised to 4.2-11 g of active ingredient per kg of dry solids. The technology proved highly suitable for this type of sludge, maintaining excellent filtrate quality and showing no signs of clogging throughout the operation.
