Problem
Atmosphere unpleasant and unsafe with the amount spray that was airborne. The dewatering room was full of mould due to the yeast in the spent wash. The client needed a stable, continuous delivery of dewatered spent wash to fuel the bio-energy plant.
Solution
After 3 successful pilots test the decision was taken to replace the belt presses with AMCON’s VOLUTE™ Dewatering Presses. A total of 11 VOLUTEs were installed, 8 will be in constant use with the other 3 being rotated into use to allow for deep cleaning. Water consumption is extremely low @240l/h reducing the amount that was required for 13 belt presses by a very significant amount. Solids capture rate also dramatically increased. The working environment is now a pleasant one with there being no airborne matter. The results coming from VOLUTE™ are more than satisfactory and another happy VOLUTE™ user is in existence.
