The atmosphere was unpleasant and unsafe due to the amount of spray that was airborne. The dewatering room was full of mould caused by the yeast present in the spent wash. The client needed a stable and continuous delivery of dewatered spent wash to fuel the bio-energy plant.
Solution
After 3 successful pilot tests, the decision was made to replace the existing belt presses with AMCON’s VOLUTE™ Dewatering Presses. A total of 11 VOLUTE™ units were installed, with 8 in constant operation and the remaining 3 rotated in for deep cleaning cycles.
Water consumption is now extremely low at only 240 l/h, significantly reducing the water needed in comparison with the previous 13 belt presses. The solids capture rate also increased dramatically.
The working environment is now safe and pleasant with no airborne particles. The results from VOLUTE™ exceeded expectations and another happy VOLUTE™ user was born.
